You can assess Your Resting Metabolic Rate by clicking on the link below:
Metabolic rate at rest can be calculated using a formula developed in the early part of the 20th century after he conducting numerous studies on human metabolism. The formula takes into account height, weight, age, gender, activity level and stress factors such as surgeries or burns which increase the body's metabolism. Total Caloric Requirements of the body is equal to Resting Metabolic Rate multiplied by the sum of the stress and activity factors. This number represents the total number of calories you need to maintain your body weight. Consider that a pound of weight is 3500 calories. If you divide 3500 by seven days which equals 500 calories, you would need to subtract 500 from you total caloric requirement per day in order to lose a pound in one week. So for example if your total caloric requirement is 1822 calories you would need to eat 1322 (1822-500) calories per day to lose a pound in one week. Keep in mind that sometimes in the beginning of a weight loss program some water weight may be lost which may make the results slightly better then you calculated. |
